Why we use affiliate links at all
Someone has to pay for the research. The alternatives are advertising, which degrades the reading experience, a paywall, which defeats the purpose, or sponsored placement, which is what we are trying to avoid. Affiliate commission is the least distorting option available, provided it is disclosed and provided rankings are never for sale.
